What is Leadership Development?
At Riverwalk Coaching we believe that the ability to lead is an innate competency that can be developed. The key word here is 'developed'. We believe that leadership comes from within and accordingly must be nurtured and developed. Our aim is to help the manager develop a leadership style that resonates with their values and convictions and that ultimately can be seen by their employees as genuine leadership.
Many leadership training programmes fail to deliver real results because, rather than developing the individual's innate leadership ability, they try to distil leadership into a set of trainable rules and strategies. The results are 'leaders' whose values and convictions may not be aligned with the strategies they have been trained to employ. When this occurs the leaders credibility and influence is fundamentally undermined.
Riverwalk's Leadership Development programme is designed to help managers at all levels to become better leaders by helping them explore, understand and then exploit their innate ability to lead. Our programme focuses not just on the manager's ability to lead others but also their ability to lead themselves.
Using a range of specially designed assessments, we first identify the manager's current leadership style. We then work with the manager to develop strategies to amend their style to maximise their strengths and develop their weaknesses.
